This cap badge was the style worn during WWII by the Westminster Regiment.
The Westminster Regiment is an infantry regiment of Canada, it is based in New Westminster, British Columbia.
The Westminster Regiment fought with distinction in WWI, including the Battle of Vimy Ridge, The Somme and at Passchendaele. During WWII, they fought bravely in the Italian campaign.
Intriguing Connections:
- This regiment was formed in 1863 and was the first militia unit raised in the colony of British Columbia and intriguingly this therefore pre-dated the setting up of Canada as a nation, which did not occur until 1st July 1867, so what role did it play in this important period of Canadian history?
