Queen Elizabeth II has released a series of photos and personal letters giving a new insight into the life of Queen Victoria.

Described as her ‘Diamond Jubilee Scrapbook’,  there are many fascinating documents that give a very personal and intimate perspective of Queen Victoria and her life.

She is the only monarch to have celebrated a Diamond Jubilee and she did so when the British Empire was at it’s height, click here to see footage of the celebration
