You can find out with a visit on the Thames to HMS Belfast which is moored on the Thames. Many years ago I took two children on the Belfast and more than 20 years later they still remember it. It is a great way to get a little insight on for how hard life on a war ship might have been, in active service for members of your family that may have served.
