Kew Gardens Library, Art & Archives

The Foxglove

The collections and archives at Kew Gardens in London, are one of the most fascinating to explore.

They give an insight into a time of exploration and collection, which, if our ancestors thought was remarkable at the time, seem even more so from a distance.

Sir Joseph Banks was asked by King George III to advice on a Royal Botanic Collection in the late 1780’s and so began began the Kew collection.

Banks was responsible for many famous expeditions collecting plants and animals and there are many fascinating records of these expeditions to be explored at the Kew archive
