27th Lancers Cap Badge. Looking closely at the cap badge of the 27th Lancers you can see at it’s centre, the elephants head which was won by the 27th Light Dragoons in the Maratha Wars (the first of which took place between 1775-1782) which were fought between British East India Company and the Maratha Empire in India. of 1803.

Cap Badge 27th Lancers

The 27th Lancers were authorised in 1940 and was one of the wartime Cavalry units that was disbanded in 1948. The badge is brass but the elephants head is white metal. Two crossed pennants, topped by the Kings Crown, with the number 27 sitting underneath complete the badge.
