The Football Association was founded and had it’s first meeting on 26th October 1863 in the Freemason’s Tavern in Long Acre London.
In 1862, thirteen, London based clubs met to try to devise a set of rules that all clubs playing in England would adhere to. Prior to this, rules were set depending on local conditions, which meant when teams from different areas met to play, chaos ensued.
